Engine Died During Fast Riding

I was late to the office this morning. So, I push the GTR to the limit.

It was fine for the first 30 minutes but suddently.... brrrrrrrrrrrr....... lost power. I was travelling at about 110km/h when it happened. I released the throttle fully and pull it again. Just a little bit. Engine regain power but pooommmm.......... an explosion like and the exhaust. I continue cruising at lower speed. Luckily I reached my office.

I check out with a few friends, some says that may be due to insufficient petrol being fed to the carburator. And the 'boom' sound may be due to miss firing by the spark plug.

I lost my confident on this bike again. May be no more full throttle and surely no long distance riding.

GTR On The Road Again

I get back the GTR on Friday. Feel good with proper auto clutch again.

Today I was back on the highway with the GTR. It was okey but some how I feel that the RPM was a bit higher at a speed of 100km/h.

Starting was good. I get the acceleration like it used to. But the front wheel feel like vibrating a lot.

I pushed it until 115km/h. The vibration is killing my enjoyment on the scooter. May be I will need to go for a wheel balancing.

GTR Is Ready For Collection

NAZA agent called me last Tuesday. The said the GTR was ready for collection.

I really have no time to go and fetch the scooter. Probably I will go tomorrow (Saturday)

I cant wait to ride it again. It may be a lot of trouble, but you are riding it, I can assure you, not many can beet the marvelous feeling zooming around on this scooter.

I will update on the performance / result after the newly replaced auto clutch.

Lost of Power

It was Friday morning. After warming up, I just accelerated as usual. But to my surprised, no response at 4,ooo RPM. Add some more throttle, and at 7,000RPM only the GTR started moving.

I tried it on the highway, still cruising easily at 100-110km/h but as soon as I stopped, it took at least 5,000RPM just to start moving.

On my way back, I stopped at the NAZA agent. When they opened it up, there was oil in the clutch unit an on the drive belt.

I left it at the service centre.

On Wednesday the next week, I called. Problem not solved.

They have cleaned the transmission unit, but it still slipped. Now, they are liasing with NAZA head quarters to solve my GTR's problem. It's still under warranty though.

Durability

I have been pushing the GTR to the limit for the last 2 weeks. I was riding at almost full throttle most of the time. I rode it for about 100-120km every day.

I am doing this to evaluate the durability of the machine because I am thinking or riding it for a long distance journey later this year.

But the result is not very good. I have an oil leaking from one of the nut near the exhaust pipe. The valves also have started to make a little clicking sound.

The tyres have also started to worn out. I already feel some problem when I rode over white line on the road.

I will continue riding at maximum speed for a few more days before I make any decision to take for a long trip later this year.

I will update this blog on my findings.

I am pretty happy but...

I have been riding the GTR for about 1500km now since last repaired by NAZA Bikes. I have not encountered any problem with the transmission.

But there is new concern now. I have been riding it hard for the last two weeks. I kept it at maximum speed for almost 45 minutes every riding session. I just wanted to clarify some reliability issues before I ride it in a long distance convoy.

A few days before Aidilfitri, I was riding at a speed around 120km/h chasing a Honda Wave 125 X when the engine suddenly died. I glide freely for a while before the engine suddenly restarted.

I was quite worried so when I exit the highway, I stopped and have a quick checked. Everything seem fine but I kept wondering why the engine died while traveling at high speed.

I suspected engine overheating due to excessive speed.

I retried the same event today (but today I chased a Honda Wave S 125 instead) but the engine did not died. But before doing so, I have added some additive to improve lubrication.

Problem Persist

The GTR was taken to NAZA HQ for repairs. This is due to the transmission system problem which cannot be resolved by their service centre.

After repalcement of the transmission unit, it still produce noisy sound. So, they decided to look at it themselves. Do not know when will it be completed, but that's okey. As long as they can solve the problem.

Break down

I've been riding the GTR from home to office for quite some time. On the 05/04/2008 I decided to make a long jurney.

I have not gone far when problem started. There was a loud growling at the rear end. I found that the gear box was giving a big problem. It was only about 120km from my starting point.

Put the GTR on a 4x4 and continue my journey. Sad.... such a good handling scooter but with reliability issue.

Send it to NAZA service centre. They said a component in the gear system worn out. They got it replaced. Luckily it is still under warranty, but still I was charged for miscellaneous items.

May be no more long jurney for the GTR.

GTR 150 is a model from CPI. But here in Malaysia, it is assemble by a local company, NAZA Bikes.
